Wait until you can craft 100k+ items before leveling characters you care about (hire companions you don't care about and use up their stamina and level your smithers to learn the right unlocks). You can go past where one would usually hit 0x gain by gaining a ton of experience all at once.
v2.1.2 Order companions that are following you to sit on chairs you are looking at by pressing G. It will select the first companion that is standing and < 3.5 distance form the chair. Selecting a specific clan will show all members of that clan. From here you can hover your cursor over any clan member and see your relationship with them. It's a number on a scale of -100 to 100. Typically speaking though, your relationship with clan members will be the same as with their clan leader unless you have interactions with those
